Windows Power Shell 1.0

This week at Microsoft's TechEd IT forum Microsoft's Bob Mugilia introduced
a host of new Microsoft technologies. One of the major announcements was
that of PowerShell 1.0, a new command-line shell and scripting tool which lets
IT managers control their Windows systems.

Formerly called "Monad", PowerShell is the first major update to the
Windows command line since Windows NT 3.5 back in 1995.
PowerShell can do things such as navigate through SQL tables
as if they were directories on a computer.

Windows Defender Final Released!

The build is marked as 1.1.1592.0 and it seems it can be installed over top previous versions (Beta 2, It can not be installed over top Beta 1 aka. Windows Anti-Spyware Beta).

The only noticeable changes are the minor color scheme updates to the User Interface (Previously a Light Blue > Dark Blue gradient, now a Blue > Green gradient.) And as well a new option to display the System Tray Icon even when the program is not in the process of updating or scanning the computer. Other changes include more improvements to the scanning engine as well as an improved Software Explorer.

Windows Defender can be installed on both 64-Bit and 32-Bit versions of Windows XP / Windows Server 2003. However, unlike previous releases, Defender is no longer supported on the Windows 2000 platform. For Windows Vista users, well it seems you're left in the dark on this one. This build can not be installed on Vista and the integrated version can not be updated to the new version through the integrated updating engine.

IE7 RC1 Released!

Today, Microsoft is announcing the availability of Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) for Windows XP, available via free download at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx . With this release, Microsoft is strongly encouraging web developers, enthusiasts and IT professionals to finalize their testing and ready their environments for the final availability of IE7.
Microsoft is confident that developers and designers who optimize their web sites and applications with this build will be compatible with the final version when it is released later this year. For an easy path to compatibility, Microsoft encourages technical audiences to download the free Readiness Toolkit.
The RC1 build includes improvements in performance, stability, security, and application compatibility. With this build, Microsoft has also made enhancements to the fit and finish of the user interface, completed CSS platform changes, added language support and included an auto-uninstall feature in Setup, which automatically uninstalls prior betas of IE7 making installing the new build even easier.
IE7 RC1 is available in English today, and all localized versions of RC1 will be available in September including Arabic, Finnish, German, and Japanese as well as the French and Spanish versions which will be available for the first time.
As previously announced, to help our customers become more secure and up-to-date, Microsoft will also distribute Internet Explorer 7 as a high-priority update via Automatic Updates soon after the final version is released for Windows XP later this year.

Windows Live Writer Released!

Microsoft will be reaviling a new Windows Live product on 14th August 2006. This new product will be called Windows Live Writer. This new product from Microsoft will allow a user to write documents/blog postings from a downloadable application called Windows Live Writer and post them to a blog (other than Windows Live Spaces). Right know, we have no other known features, except Spell Check, of this product untill Monday the 14th.

Beau Giles creator of Inside-Live.com is the only known person (that we know) that has this new software from Microsoft. He gave me a few hints, but was not the person that I found out it was Windows Live Writer from. He also gave me a screenshot, but I don't know if it is the real thing:

It looks (maybe) like a screenshot from early builds of Windows Live Mail Desktop. When we get any more news from/about Windows Live Writer, we'll let you know. That is all we have now.
